Dis-Closure!

Cambodian Silk
The question that we're asked most often is whether or not we offer closures*. The short answer is, not at the moment.

But we intend to introduce our beta offering before the end of year 2010.

Presently, we are exploring our options and testing different possibilities. However, we do have a few things figured out. Here's what I can share at this stage in our product development:

1. Our closures will be made of silk. And not just any silk. Cambodian silk, the best silk on the planet. Hand weaved silk is an ancient tradition in Cambodia and we're excited to introduce a new application for this treasured art form. With each purchase, our clients will not only achieve styling versatility, but they'll also be supporting a new economic opportunity in Cambodia!

2. Our silk will feature a gradient density that will reduce the line of demarcation, which is often the culprit when the hair piece looks "wiggy."

3. Our closures will be fabricated for a weaving application as opposed to an adhesive application, removing the need to apply potentially damaging chemicals to the hairline and skin.

4. Just as we create custom blends for each of our clients, each closure will be custom as well. Silk can be dyed to match skin tone. Hair density can be selected according to preference. And similar to the process of ordering our hair extensions, clients will be able to select hair pattern, luster and length.

We're excited to add our contribution to the world of closures! This effort is our first critical step on a path that will lead to the fabrication of other popular hair accessories such as frontals and demi-wigs.

Clients who have reached Rumdul Apsara level in our loyalty program or higher will have the first opportunity to purchase our product at the end of the year. In the meantime, we'd love your feedback. Please leave a comment about what you think makes for an ideal closure!

Warmest,
Janice

*A closure is a small piece, typically made of lace, silk or a combination of the two, that can be adhered or attached to the crown of the head to imitate the look of scalp. Closures work well for clients who have experienced hair loss or breakage at the crown or simply desire a protective style that allows their own hair an opportunity to rest from the rigors of constant styling.
