What is Pattern?

Arjuni uses Pattern to describe the size of a wave or curl.

Looser wave and curl patterns are represented by letters "A" and "B". Tighter wave and curl patterns are represented as "C" and "D". Please note: Because our hair extensions are authentically virgin, curl size within a specific Pattern does vary. (Think of Pattern as a "sliding scale" rather than a precise measurement.) As such, your #hairinspo - a photo of the style you’d like to achieve - serves as our best guide.

Why pick a Pattern?

Two reasons.

  1. By choosing a Pattern, we’re able to ensure we’re both on the same page in terms of the style you’d like to achieve. Typical terms such as wavy or curly include such a wide variety of curl and wave sizes, chances are you'll likely not receive what you intended to order. For example, searching for "wavy" hair could result in hair with lush body waves or hair with a decidedly crimped wave. However, specifying a specific Pattern greatly increases the likelihood that you'll receive what you want.
  2. Patterns can help you correctly identify the patterns in your own hair. Why is this important? If you plan to blend your own hair with our virgin tresses, understanding Patterns can make your blending process seamless. For example, if your own hair is an A pattern, blending A hair extensions will be much easier than blending C hair extensions.

How do you categorize Patterns?
A Pattern

Think straight no chaser. Or just a touch of body. A Pattern includes virgin tresses with no discernible pattern to virgin tresses with body. A Pattern most resilient hair of all the hair patterns. This pattern is difficult to damage, but can also be difficult to curl.

A pattern
B Pattern

Think soft waves and chunky curls. B Pattern ncludes virgin tresses characterized as beach waves or Mother Nature’s version of the roller set. The B pattern is most The B pattern enables a wide variety of styles, particularly if the hair is of medium or fine texture. Straightening the Wavy B pattern requires more effort than straightening the Wavy A pattern. But it curls with greater ease.

B pattern
C Pattern

Think defined waves and springy curls. C Pattern includes virgin tresses with finger waves or thumb curls. The C pattern enables a variety of styles, particularly if the hair is of medium or fine texture. Straightening the C pattern requires more effort than straightening the Wavy B pattern. But its waves and curls are always ready for action.

C pattern
D Pattern

Think kinky waves and spiral curls. D Pattern includes virgin tresses with pinky waves or pinky curls. The D pattern enables a variety of styles, particularly if the hair is of medium or fine texture. Straightening the D pattern requires considerably more effort than straightening the C Pattern and the D Pattern requires significant effort and product to maintain a straight hair style. Because of its thin cuticle layer, it is wise to care gently for this hair.

What is #hairinspo?

We couldn't agree more with the adage "a picture is worth a thousand words". Choosing a letter to represent a Pattern just doesn't do your tress vision justice!

Because there exists a spectrum of waves and curls within a single Pattern, we ask you to choose an image of the exact style you're after. The image you choose to represent your Pattern is called your #hairinspo.

To select your #hairinspo, you have two options:

  1. Select an image from our gallery; or
  2. Upload your own image.

How are Colors defined?

Selecting your Color is the second step in creating your custom order. Arjuni uses Color to describe your preferred shade of natural black or natural dark brown.

Coal
Coal (wait time: add an additional 2 - 4 weeks)

Coal is the closest natural hair color to a jet black and quite rare. Think #1 on a traditional hair color chart.

Additional Fee: $3 per ounce

Ebony
Ebony (wait time: add an additional 1 - 2 weeks)

Ebony has just a hint of brown, but is decidedly more black than brown. Think #1B on a traditional hair color chart.

Sable
Sable

Sable has just a hint of black, but is decidedly more brown than black. It is the darkest of the natural brown hair colors. Think #1C on a traditional hair color chart.

Coffee
COFFEE (wait time: add an additional 1 - 2 weeks)

Coffee is a deep, rich brown color. Think #2 on a traditional hair color chart.

How do I select a lighter brown Color?

Arjuni offers only bonafide virgin hair. Consequently, we do not process Color to meet demands. The hair Color of our Cambodian donors is typically a natural black or a natural dark brown, which is the reason for the limited selection.

What are Layers?

Choosing your Layers is the third step in customizing your order. Think of each Layer as a specific Length in the style you'd like to achieve. And for each length, you're able to customize three additional specifications:

How is Length measured?

All of our tresses are single drawn, meaning that all hair ordered will be within two inches (longer or shorter) of your desired length. Tresses are measured when pulled taunt and after wefting (if applicable). Be careful when ordering tighter wavy or curly patterns as shrinkage (contraction of the waves or curls) can cause the hair to look shorter than desired.

If you desire a length that's equal to 14 inches when in its virgin state:

What is Luster and why is it important?

Luster describes the amount of light reflected by hair. The luster of the hair depends upon the make up of the hair cortex (the protein core). The cortex is made of ortho cortex and para cortex. Para cortex is strong, durable and shiny. Ortho cortex is more porous, less durable, more bendable and possesses a sheen. The more ortho cortex the hair has, the less luster it has and the more fragile it is.

Curly hair typically has more ortho cortex. But with hair, the exceptions are proven more often then the rules. You may have straight hair that contains more ortho cortex than para cortex, and as a result, that hair has more sheen than shine. Or you might have curly hair that possesses more para cortex than ortho cortex, resulting in silky curls.

A pattern
High Luster (wait time: an additional 1 - 2 weeks)

High Luster hair is strong, durable and shiny, possessing an extremely high "gloss factor." How slippery or silky the hair is is effected by the texture and pattern, but more often than not, High Luster is the most "slippery" of luster types.

C pattern
Medium Luster (no additional wait time)

Medium Luster hair, while not as durable as High luster, is resilient and possesses a gentle shine. How silky or soft the hair is depends upon the texture and pattern, but more often than not, Medium Luster is the most "silky" of luster types.

D pattern
Low Luster (wait time: an additional 3 - 4 weeks)

Low Luster hair is the most fragile and possesses a subtle sheen. How soft or wiry the hair is depends upon the texture and pattern, but more often than not, Low Luster is the "softest" of luster types.

What does Type mean?

Arjuni uses Type to describe the type of attachment, if any, used to secure your tresses. Presently our offerings include:

No Weft (No additional wait time)

No Weft is our bulk hair option. These are tresses without wefts.

Slim Weft (No additional wait time)

  1. Deduct 2 - 4 ounces for tighter curls and waves requires.
